Primark Logo Tee

_20180210_110324

I visited the local Primark last weekend, primarily because I’d watched a few Youtube hauls and was most intrigued with the beauty products on offer. As I made my way to the back of the store toward the beauty section, I walked past the stand with lots of logo tees. I felt a little overwhelmed and decided to grab the butterfly tee with the wording “Forever In My Heart 1998”. I love butterflies, so it ticked that box at the very least. I decided to size up as I pictured myself wearing it with boyfriend jeans and trainers (both of which I have yet to purchase). The tee feels decent considering I only paid £2.50! Yes, £2.50. I’m now questioning why I didn’t just buy more?! Continue reading “Items I’m Loving This Week #3”

Starting My Blog

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.

We are all born mad. Some remain so.

Dance first. Think later. It’s the natural order.

Where I am, I don’t know, I’ll never know, in the silence you don’t know, you must go on, I can’t go on, I’ll go on.

Nothing is funnier than unhappiness, I grant you that. Yes, yes, it’s the most comical thing in the world.

You’re on earth. There’s no cure for that.

Every word is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.

Nothing happens. Nobody comes, nobody goes. It’s awful.

The sun shone, having no alternative, on the nothing new.

They give birth astride of a grave, the light gleams an instant, then it’s night once more.

My blog, my stage, my small part of this virtual world is the scariest leap I have ever taken. For the longest time I simply dreamed of who I wanted to be, could be, should be yet allowed the opinions of others to take first place. I’ve learned, and continue to learn that your passion is discovered. And I discovered my passion for writing a very long time ago. However, I dabbled in writing, I had periods where I plunged my very being into writing (even submitted manuscripts) and then recoiled like a wounded animal when rejected. I tried to suppress my passion. Continue reading “Starting My Blog”

My Current Skincare Routine

This week I discovered Nadine Baggot. Wow! I binged watched her videos on Youtube and learned so much regarding the actual science behind different ingredients and how to use them.

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I have overhauled my skincare routine in the last several months after neglecting it and relying solely on my good genes. However, this attitude resulted in dry, patchy and red skin which I hated, and which also made me feel self-conscious. Continue reading “My Current Skincare Routine”

Hoops for Me

My style has been something I have wanted to overhaul for such a long time. From changing my hairstyle and wearing clothes I love and feel good in as opposed to ones I can simply “just afford”, a “new me” has been at the top of my list for the last several years. I realise that finding my sense of style will be an ongoing process and that I will not have a specific or definitive look (although that might also change).

As I think back to my early twenties (10 years ago now!), I surprise myself at how daring and fashion-confident I was. I worked in an office where I wouldn’t think twice about mixing prints or fabrics or brightening up a complete black outfit with a colourful pair of shoes, blazer or even belt. I received compliments daily and was even told how a person couldn’t wait for me to walk through the door to see what I was wearing. Continue reading “Hoops for Me”

The Clarins Touch

_20180128_092211

It is safe to say that I am a beauty products fiend. I read fellow blogs and watch trustee YouTubers and I am not embarrassed to say, I often take a break from reading or pause the video mid-way in order to make a purchase (or at the very least, put items in my basket so that I do not forget them). My skin care journey is very much ongoing and whilst I have just laid bare my influential side, I do not buy every item thrust in my path. I have a smidgen of discipline and my skin is definitely an area that it is exercised. Continue reading “The Clarins Touch”

A Smelly Obsession Take 2!

Although my blog is relatively new, for those of you who have joined me on my journey thus far you will know that I am candle obsessed. In my blog post A Smelly Obsession, a precursor to this post, I write about my love of candles and my hunt to find a particular type after watching one of my favourite YouTubers. A few weekends ago my lovely Nanny surprised me with a candle gift set from Aldi. I gave her a kiss on the cheek and thanked her profusely as I started drafting this blog post in my mind. All Go for Glam Glow!

_20180120_104654

I peruse the Space NK website weekly, popping items into my basket to decide later on which one will be my payday treat. Only, I never get round to actually purchasing any of my coveted items as bills and other little odds and sods crop up, taking my hard earned cash (not bitter!). In the latest installment for my series Items I’m Loving This Week, I featured a product I was extremely lucky enough to receive as a gift from a colleague whose partner worked at the local Space NK. I was ecstatic to receive my bag of goodies. More recently, my colleague asked if there were any products I would like and I mentioned the Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment. Two days later I was handed the gorgeous pot and once again squealed with delight.

Contentment

Contentment Pic

Contentment: noun; the state of being contented; satisfaction; ease of mind.

This week I have sat and listened to numerous people complain about their job, life and overall being. However, these same said people were quick with their retorts when others expressed the same dissatisfaction by saying “well at least it’s a job”.

Boots Simply Sensitive Protecting Day Moisturizer with SPF15

_20180114_140306

I’ve always had nice skin. In fact, I took it for granted that my skin was nice and I’m embarrassed to say that I failed to treat it with respect. That was until after my 34th birthday where I noticed my skin was becoming dry, flaky with patches of red in certain areas. So I watched a few skincare routines and followed those up with researching products online. The world of skincare is overwhelming and I decided that simplicity was best and wanted a routine with as little steps as possible to ensure I would keep them up. I decided to go into Boots one Saturday morning and perused their skincare aisle and again, the overwhelming feeling I got as I stood staring at product after product washed over me.I ended up at the Boots own brand section and picked up the Boots Simply Sensitive Protecting Day Moisturizer with SPF15. This product has honestly made such a positive and noticeable change to my skin. I absolutely love it. It soaks in immediately and leaves the skin feeling supple and refreshed. I use this every morning during the week and at weekends if I’m venturing out.

A Smelly Obsession

I absolutely love candles. Big, small and everything in between. I especially love scented candles. Growing up we never had such things as air fresheners and candles. We didn’t have the little touches which to me, make a house a home.

Once I settled into my first home I knew I wanted to create the perfect ambiance and agonised over such details as bulb wattage and glow. I surrounded myself with all the things I loved and could afford.

I enjoy walking into a room and being greeted with a subtle fragrance. To me, each room is a different personality and I express this via scents. For example, I enjoy a fresh, citrus scent in the bathroom and a more musky scent in the hallway and lounge. I experiment in the kitchen and use this room to try out new fragrances.
